firefox final release

Looks like the web browser most of us were introduced to by Bud is ready to release its final version. I think this is a pretty big step in challenging the dominant microsoft. Personally, I'm not a fan of changes specially when it comes to computers but I think I can make the transition from IE to firefox simply cause its so frustrating to use IE and keep closing all those pesky pop-ups. This is the article which talks about the final release of Mozilla firefox.

post xam

well i dunno whether i should celebrate that the exam is finally over or whether i should worry about how tricky the exam was. I was pretty well prepared for that exam but the questions on that exam definitely made me think otherwise. Oh well, now that i am done with exams for a while i was relaxing and came across this pretty funny interview of Jon Stewart on Cnn Crossfire. Here is the video I found it really funny. Something to help us forget about BIT 320 for a while!!..

Bloggers taking over journalism

Well the endless number of posts about blogs and its uses are definitely redundant but this one caught my attention. There was an article on www.cnn.com about how blogs are taking over the journalism industry. I feel that probably in the long run, bloggers will take over the news industry. The article talks about how internet bloggers were the first people to expose or rather "challenge the authenticity of the documents" in the CBS case which took place a couple weeks ago.
However, personally I would question the legitimacy of any news passed on or published by internet bloggers since the identity and credibility of any internet user and blogger cannot be confirmed. I feel that internet blogging would be a good enviornment for starting rumours which could have many negative effects on people's everyday life. Well i guess this is a point of debate and am pretty sure many people would disagree with me.
This is the article.

In continuation to Alexadler Blog - internet fraud

Internet fraud has been in the news a lot in recent times. Apparently credit card information can be found by using certain search queries in google. Google comes up with sites which have their databases loaded on them about customer information including the address, phone # and in some cases even their prescription drugs which they are taking!! It definitely is pretty freaky. I read this article on ZDnet.com which talked about how people can get access to so many credit card numbers. This is the article
This is definitely scary specially for people like me that are too lazy to go to a store and shop. This article definitely makes me think twice before ordering anything online unless i know the site is completely secure. I know a couple of my friends that were victims of credit card fraud and lost over a couple thousand dollars. So next time make sure the site your ordering from is totally secure and has some kind of verisign software.

Blogging as a job

I saw some guy talking on the news on MSNBC about blogging and how many people try to make a living off it. I can't believe people actually think that they could not work and sit at home and continously blog about something or the other. Its like getting paid to just keep talking and voicing your opinions. Definitely sounds like a really sweet job if a person can one. The article said that companies like Nike hired blogging companies to advertise their products. Some bloggers earned almost $120000 a year. That is pretty surprising given the kind of job and skills required to blog!!! However, at this point the market for lucrative blogging jobs seems very small. I wonder if blogging as a profession will ever catch on. Will it ever become a well paying job?
